NEW ID FOR ADULTS

This ID is given to Eritreans born to an Eritrean father and/or mother. Applicants are required to submit the following:

  1.  Clear copy of a current passport
  2. Completed ID Checklist (a complete original form will be arranged to be signed after receiving the completed checklist)
  3. Four Passport photos (35 x 45 mm) Accepted photos
  4. Clear copy of parents’ Eritrean ID (both sides)(If both parents are Eritrean)
  5. If a copy of both parents’ IDs cannot be provided, the applicant must provide three witnesses (above the age of 40 and holders of Eritrean ID) or authorize a person residing in Eritrea to verify their nationality by acting on their behalf
  6. Evidence of payment: AUD 120.00 + AUD 25.00 for every year after the age of 25, deposited. 
  7. A self-addressed prepaid return envelope 

UNDERAGE 

New

Eritreans under the age of 18 who are born to an Eritrean father and/or mother are required to submit the following:

  1.  Clear copy of current passport
  2. Completed Underage ID form  underage-id-new-form UA001/2013-2
  3. One ID photo(35 x 45 mm)  Accepted photos
  4. Clear copy of Birth Certificate of the Child
  5. Clear copy of Father’s and/or Mother’s Eritrean ID (both sides)
  6. Evidence of Payment AUD 75.00 for regular process (AUD 90.00 for urgent process)
  7. A self-addressed prepaid return envelope 

Re-Issue

Applicants who previously possessed an underage ID can apply for a Re-issue under two conditions

  • When the passport associated with the previous underage ID is changed
  • When the underage ID is lost
  1.  Clear copy of current passport
  2. Completed Underage ID Application Form
  3. One ID photo(35 x 45 mm) Accepted photos
  4. Clear copy of Birth Certificate of the Child
  5. Clear copy of Father’s and/or Mother’s Eritrean ID (both sides)
  6. Evidence of payment of AUD 50.00 for regular process (AUD 65.00 for urgent process)
  7. A self-addressed prepaid return envelope 

N.B. Underage ID applications that are lodged electronically must include the above specifications as well as a digital photo attached to the document via e-mail to:  eritrean.consulate@gmail.com

ID REPLACEMENT FOR NEW – Old ID is still in possession

Applicants who have their old ID in possession are required to submit the following

Clear copy of current Eritrean ID

  1. Clear copy of current passport
  2. Completed ID – Checklist (a complete original form will be arranged to be signed after receiving the completed checklist)
  3. Four Passport photos (4.5 cm x 3.5 cm). Accepted photos
  4. Evidence of payment: AUD 125.00
  5. A self-addressed prepaid return envelope.   
  7. ID REPLACEMENT FOR LOST ID:
    Applicants who have lost their Eritrean ID are required to submit the following:
  1.  Clear copy of previous Eritrean ID/ number of previous ID (if available)
  2. Clear copy of current passport
  3. Completed ID Checklist (a complete original form will be arranged to be signed after receiving the completed checklist)
  4. Four Passport photos (35 x 45 mm) Accepted photos
  5. Evidence of up-to-date recovery tax payment clearance
  6. Evidence of payment: AUD 170.00
  7. A self-addressed prepaid return envelope
