POWER OF ATTORNEY

Applicants who hold Eritrean National ID are required to submit the following in order to authorize a person in Eritrea/ Eritrean Missions overseas to act on their behalf.

  1. A complete application form POA Form
  2. Evidence of up-to-date recovery tax payment clearance
  3. Evidence of fee payment AUD 90.00

Applicants of Non-Eritrean origin are required to submit the following in order to authorize a person in Eritrea to act on their behalf.

  1. A Power of Attorney document signed in front of justice of peace and must be authenticated by the nearest Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) office in Australia.
  2. The Power of Attorney should be sent to this office for authentication in order to be accepted in Eritrea.
  3. Evidence of fee payment AUD 90.00
  4. A self-addressed prepaid return envelope – preferably platinum post 

DOCUMENT AUTHENTICATION

Documents prepared in Australia should be sent to this office for authentication prior to sending to Eritrea.

  1. The document must be authenticated by the nearest Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) office in Australia.
  2. Evidence of fee payment AUD 90.00
  3. A self-addressed prepaid return envelope – preferably platinum post

POLICE CLEARANCE

Applicants who need to obtain a police clearance from Eritrea are required to submit the following:

  1. A finger prints document from the nearest Police Station
  2. Power of Attorney
  3. Copy of current Passport
  4. Six standard passport sized photos Accepted Photos
  5. Evidence of fee payment AUD 90.00
  6. A self-addressed prepaid return envelope – preferably platinum post

BIRTH CERTIFICATE

Applicants born in Eritrea but residing outside Eritrea need to provide the following documents to obtain a Birth Certificate

  1. Birth documentation from the Office of Area administration in Eritrea (if available)
  2. Filling/Lodging a birth registration form
  3. Copy of Eritrean National ID Card
  4. Evidence of up-to-date recovery tax payment clearance
  5. Copy of Passport
  6. Power of Attorney (If applying through a representative in Eritrea) 

VERIFICATION OF RESIDENCE

Government bodies in Eritrea may require periodic verification that an individual is alive and residing in Australia/New Zealand to continue the disbursement of payments. To obtain such verification the following needs to be provided:

  1. Copy of Eritrean ID
  2. Sign the verification form/ letter by attending at the Consulate Office in Melbourne in person
  3. Evidence of fee payment AUD 10.00

N.B The verification of proof of life is valid for six months only.
